It’s more people that seem to be enjoying smoking than having ice cream.
As crazy as it sounds, this is all due to the massive growth of the marijuana industry. A report reveals that if the government legalized it nationally it would sell more than ice cream, more than movie tickets and snacks. Dammm!
A report from Marijuana Business Daily reveals that marijuana demand estimates at $45-$50 billion, that is way too much compared to annual ice cream sales, $5.1 billion (in U.S).
As stated on Forbes; Total recreational cannabis sales in the U.S. at this estimate would also top movie ticket sales ($11.1 billion) and snacks like Doritos, Cheetos and Funyuns ($4.9 billion.) At that rate, it wouldn’t take long to eclipse cigarette sales and even potentially beer sales.
As it is, legal recreational and medical cannabis sales in 2016 were $4.0-$4.5 billion. This beats paid music streaming services at $2.5 billion and girl scout cookies at $776 million.
Marijuana is not presently legal in any jurisdiction in South Africa (without being in possession of a permit to cultivate it for research purposes granted by the Department of Health). – News24
