The kidnapped Ondo State monarch, Oba Sunday Daodu, has regained freedom.

He was freed on Tuesday, April 18, after four days in captivity.

It was not clear if a ransom was paid as his abductors had demanded five million Naira to secure his release – the money was later reduced to three million Naira.

The spokesman for the Ondo State Police Command, Mr. Femi Joseph, confirmed the monarch’s release.

Joseph said Oba Daodu did not inform the police of any payment being made to secure his release.

The monarch, whose title is Oniya of Iyani, was said to have arrived his palace at exactly 8.00 p.m. in company of his two colleagues, Olubaram of Ibaram, Oba Olusegun Atibioke and the Owa of Ogbagi-Akoko, Oba Victor Olasehinde.
