Union Bank Apologizes For Confusion Over An Advertisement For Offer Of Legal Services

Union Bank of Nigeria Plc has rendered a message of apology to Nigerians over the advertisement made by the Bank to offer legal services to the general public.The message under the Coporate Communication signature discloses that the message has been drastically misunderstood.According to the message disseminated to their customers and the legal community, and made available to TheNigerialawyer, in their bid to support small and medium scale enterprise, and facilitating their ability to access abroad range of financial services, their intention is to guide them in procuring the relevant solutions required to put proper corporate governance structure in place to grow their business.The Bank therefore calls on the general public, especially the legal community not to misunderstand the true intent of the previous communication.TheNigerialawyer recalls that the Union Bank of Nigeria Plc incorporated under the relevant laws had earlier made an advertisement offering to render legal services to the general public. The offer included among others, corporate, NAFDAC, SCUML and SON registration; perfection of title of lands, contract drafting and reviews, etc.This led to mixed reactions from lawyers in the legal community. Sequel to this was the publishing of an article by TheNigerialawyer, written by Ebi Robert, criticizing the communication as to whether it was a breach of the RPC.
